Which snowboard mittens are the best?
I have a fantastic, new pair of gloves for snowboarding but I used them today and my fingers were still ice cold. It wasn't even that cold on the mountain. So I'm thinking about getting some mittens. I've looked into Burton's Gore Mitt and Level Butterfly Biomex 3-in-1.
Any mitten recommendations? Something durable and VERY warm is really what I'm looking for.
The DaKine Sequoia Gore-Tex 3-in-1 Mittens also seem promising.
I have the Gore glove and I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!
I'm not a mitten wearer, but the glove are very warm.
I had to use the liners once. I was in Maine and it was-14 degrees at the summit.

Hypothermia is another serious condition and can be life threatening when you’re exposed to extremely cold temperatures for a prolonged period of time. Frost bite is yet another problem because it is not associated with pain in the early stages. It been said that winter storm conditions and cold waves are the deadliest types of weather.
“It’s been my experience that cold weather can make you just a miserable as the hot days of summer. The older I get the worse it gets. However you can still enjoy the winter months outdoors if you prepare appropriately. Here are just a few tips that may help you to avoid some potential risk associated with cold winter conditions.”
- Check the weather forecast and always prepare for the worst.
- It’s safest if you don’t hike alone. However if you have to, be sure to tell some one where you’re going and when you expect to return.
- Layer yourself with loose, lightweight, warm clothing. Clothing made of light weight material and worn loosely will trap air between the layers acting as an insulator. Layered clothing will also allow for layers to be added or removed depending temperatures which may vary during the time of planed activity.
- It is recommended the outer clothing be tightly woven and water repellent.
- Use the proper gear for the activity and make certain it is in good condition and proper working order.
- Your footwear should be waterproof, in good condition with the proper sole designed for the specific activity you have in mind.
- You should have a hooded jacket or some type of head gear to cover you head and ears.
- Covering you mouth with a scarf will help protect your lungs from extremely cold temperatures.
- Protecting your hands with mittens sung at the wrist tends to do better than gloves as your fingers will remain warmer when there touching each other.
- Slow down your pace, don’t get in a hurry.
- Stop to rest. Frequent rest breaks will help avoid over exertion.
- Seek medical attention. If you experience chest pain you should stop and seek immediate help. Don’t push yourself to the point of no return. It’s not worth it.
As with any activity which requires physical exertion you should check with your doctor before participating. Learning to recognize the signs of cold weather dangers and being prepared for the worst will help ensure a safe and enjoyable outing not to mention your safe return.

Snowboard Wrist guard gloves
Can you recommend snowboard wrist guards (or gloves with built in wrist guards)?
I've been doing a lot of research but can't find many reviews on the differences between wrist guard brands.
From my research, it looks like the most popular are Level Gloves (with Biomex technology) and Flexmeter Gloves and Guards. These two brands are pricey, but appear to use a more advanced flexible technology as opposed to hard plastic.
Then there are gloves and guards by Dakine and Seirus, these are much cheaper and appear to use hard plastic.
I wear the DAKINE wrist guards. I've had a pair for the entire 7 years I've been snowboarding and I wear them every time. I am actually amazed at how long they have held up. I have fallen literally hundreds of times and so far no broken wrists. They also make gloves that have them built in, but I haven't personally tried them. It would be nice though to have them built into the glove because it is sometimes hard to get your gloves on over the wrist guards.
Bottom line with wrist guards... it is still possible to break your arm or wrist while wearing them. But it does reduce your risk, and considering it is one of the most common injuries in snowboarding they are a really good idea.

a few days ago i went snowboarding and i forgot my gloves,

What would be the best Snowboard gear to buy?
Okay I need to buy a Snowboard, Snowboard bindings, Snowboard boots, And everything in between.
Here are some brand I heard were good: Burton, Ride, K2, ThirtyTwo, DC, etc, etc.

Im a freestyle snowboarder
well if you're a freestyle snowboarder i would suggest a twin tip snowboard, so you can ride switch. I like Burton because they make a ton of boards and they make a lot of park-specific boards, though they're on the expensive side. Rome also makes good boards. bindings and boots are tough. My favorite bindings are Flow, but they're really expensive. DC, Vans, and celcius make nice boots. I hope this helps.
