Vaccinations To Cross The Waters Or Just A Border
If you are like most people you don't like to go to a doctor because most of the time, it will be to get a shot. Some of these shots will make your body feel like it is on fire. This shot can be given to all areas of the body, and it won't be very comfortable. Some places will be worse than others.
When you travel overseas you have to go through a lot of different kinds of shots before you can even get on the boat or the airlines, whichever one you are traveling by. When you go into the military you are given a lot of shots also. When you have children they have several different kinds of shots that these kids have to have before they can get into school. The medical companies keep adding different kinds of shots every couple of years. One you are supposed to have once every ten years. This is the tetanus shot.
When my kids were little they had to have a liquid form of shot for Polio, a DPT shot, a Td shot and one for Measles, Mumps and Rubella or an MMR. Now they have more that I don't even know of . One shot that I do know of is chicken pox. As you see our children only had to have these four shots to get into school, but the kids of today will probably feel like a pin cushion by the time they have had all their shots.
The kinds of shots that you will need to travel can depend on the places that you are going to travel to. For some places you might need a shot of this or someplace else you might need a whole different set of shots. In the military you will stand in line, and they will give you your shots by two big needle guns that will hold all the medicine for all the shots so that they can be given all at once. If you don't like needles like I don't, then I suggest that you don't look.
Do you realize that if you take your pet on a trip overseas that they will also have to get shots given to them? If you really don't want to do this to your pet, you might want to find somewhere for your animal to stay. Most people will put their animals in shelters while they are gone, but this can become very expensive, and most of the animals will come out looking like they had not been taken care of. But most of these shelters are the best.

Junior Snow

What college can I get into now (bombed junior year)?
I have had mostly A's and A-'s for my freshmen and sophomore years (only 2 B's in both years combined) in all honors classes available at my school. This year, as a junior, I took 4 AP classes and it affected my other grades as well as getting lower grades in those advanced classes. Now I am looking at mostly B's and possibly 2 C's (in AP calc and AP chem) for the year. I had wanted to go to a school like Harvard before this whole debacle...and now i'm pretty sure that's about impossible now. I am active in sports and drama as well as being a National Honors Society Student. (I am also required to complete 40 hours of community service to graduate.) Is there any thing I can do now to get into a prestigious school....and what kind of school should I most likely aim for?
p.s. I also had some minor emotional and health related problems during the year (and the snow ball effect definitely did some damage over all...I was very close to failing my third quarter of AP Chem.)
I am speaking for UCs in California( specifically UCLA and Berkeley). freshman year doesn't count. so forget all those grades there. They will appear as Passes (p) on your application. Mostly B's and 2 C's ...add the extra gpa point of 4 AP's and you probably still have a decent GPA. But, for both UCLA and UCB you need to bump up that gpa to at least a 3.8. 50% of our 4.0s get rejected. You need to have numerous clubs and sports where you show leadership skills (ie you founded something, or are president of something). You'll probably have better luck applying to schools like UCI and UCSD. or, try to get your GPA up. If you took community college courses, those are added to your GPA points. also, you can actually write down these "minor emotional problems" in a specific part of the application. These schools do take that into consideration. Hope that helps, and good luck!

Breckenridge Co... 3 Ways to Hot Deals!
The gorgeous view of the Ten Mile Range will certainly capture your attention when you're gazing at it for the first time. The Breckenridge town was designed to be a pedestrian destination, with the majority of its watering holes, shops, restaurants and lodging options. At that place you will realize that it takes less work to reach a destination by walking rather than by driving. At Breckenridge condo rentals ranging from inexpensive to luxurious ones, most of them are closely located to most summer and winter fun activities.
Breckenridge Colorado deals:
Inexpensive deals don't necessarily translate to the cheapest ones. That is to say, an inexpensive deal should be an exchange where you end up getting value for your money. In a place like Breckenridge, where most of the visitors belong to the upper echelon of the socioeconomic strata, cheap is one word that is hard to come across with. Inexpensive, on the other hand, might be a bit easier to find.
Though you might find inexpensive deals more than you could cheap ones in Breck, they're still a rare find by most standards. This text is aimed to helping you start out with something.
1. Where to get inexpensive lodging:
Park Avenue Lofts, which is a favorite lodging spot for many, is also one of the most lowest priced hotels in Breck. Among its amenities are a fitness center, outdoor spa tub, and ski storage. The guestrooms are already fitted with cable TV and fully-furnished kitchens. For those who can't live a day without being online, you'll be happy to know that you can also enjoy free high speed Internet access. The price you'd need to prepare for it all? An unbelievable $199. What's more, it's only a little over a hundred yards from the Quicksilver Super 6 Lift. You'll find it located one block from Main Street and adjacent to the Riverwalk Event Center.
2. Where to get inexpensive food:
With just $20-$25 in your wallet, you can walk down to Lincoln Ave. There you'll end up with one of the most inexpensive deals for a hearty meal in all of Breckenridge. The Salt Creek Restaurant & Saloon serves Italian, American, Seafood, Texas style BBQ, and Steak cuisine in a pleasant Old West atmosphere. Other dishes you'll find in their menu are good selections of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and other BBQ.
3. Where to find inexpensive ski rentals:
You don't have to look far for inexpensive ski rentals. Right beside Park Avenue Lofts is Breeze and Max, where you can rent a snowboard for $36. One great bonus is that they offer a free junior rental for your 12-year old and below kid for every adult rental package.
Once you've signed up for their equipment, you won't have to worry about storage. They'll take care of that bit for your. The inexpensive deals mentioned above are definitely within the crosshairs of those who frequent Breckenridge so it would be best to try to be booked or reserved much earlier than the rest.

Christmas Ornament

What are some fraction math project Christmas ornament ideas?
What are some fraction math project Christmas ornament ideas?
I am teaching my little brother, who has severe learning disabilities, how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. Our Christmas tree this year is also looking a little bare. So what is a way that I can make some ornaments and make it into a math project? Or am I just expecting too much? Lol.
If you don't care about the ornaments looking *perfect*, here's an idea you can try:
Make some "people" ornaments. For example, you could make a reindeer, a Santa, an elf, a penguin, a snowman and a family consisting of Mom, Dad, brother, sister, baby, dog and cat*. Then, make some cookie ornaments...just a big round circle with chocolate chips. Take one "cookie" and tell your brother, "This cookie is for EVERYone. How will they all get the same amount?" He'll have to count the "people" and then decide that you need to cut the cookie into 12 equal pieces. Or, start off with twelve cookies and ask him how many everyone gets. Or, 24 cookies and ask how many everyone gets. Once he gets that, take two cookies, and ask him how to divide the cookie so everyone gets the same amount. Set aside the animals (reindeer, penguin, dog and cat) and divide a cookie in fourths. Have him put the cookies back together after they've been cut ("three thirds equals one cookie", etc) and tape them back into a whole cookie when you're ready to hang it on a tree.
*I used these example because 12 is an easy number to divide, as opposed to, like, 9. I also listed different "people", instead of 12 penguins, so it would be easier for a young child to understand and visualize. He can picture in his mind a brother and a sister splitting a cookie for a snack easier than imagining two divided by one.

Why Antique Christmas Ornaments are so Expensive
Christmas is time for rejoicing; it is a time to share all your love and warmth. Christmas is also a great season for shopping; right from Christmas trees, Christmas ornaments and other gift items. Most people are interested to buy antique Christmas ornaments that come in various designs like Santa, blown glass, Dresden, Sebnitz, and much more.
The materials used in making the antique Christmas ornaments are normally over 120 years old. This adds to the specialty and uniqueness of each and every article.
Many articles and raw materials like beads, spun-glass, variety of papers, fabrics, die-cut papers, silk flowers etc decoration items come from Vintage and Antique shops.
Antique Christmas ornaments are used to create vintage objects like hot air balloons, musical instruments, clocks, ships, and flower baskets. Many more different styles of decorating the house and garden during Christmas can be seen. Many ornaments are made up from chromolithographs that are embellished with Dresden trims, vintage laces and metallic tinsel along with fabric. The popular objects that make up the decoration are ornaments that depict animals, birds, angels, women, children, cattle, and fruits and vegetables.
Usually all these ornaments especially the Dresden ornaments seem to be very expensive. This is because of the hard work and skills put up in creating every ornament unique and good looking. A great deal of effort goes into the making sure that no two ornaments are ever alike. This is necessary to maintain a large inventory of vintage collections, for the materials to choose from the lot. Some of the pieces and collection are very difficult and rare to find. The Dresden Star is one of the most loved antique ornaments that are incorporated with inventive and elaborate ideas. All these articles are hand made and exhibit expertise, best quality and craftsmanship.
Antique Angels and Santa categories are very hard to find and add to the glory of the collection of ornaments. The scrap collection forms the main inspiration for building up the antique ornaments. The makers of these ornaments have materials dating back to the 1900’s. They have scraps of every imaginable origin. All of them are abstract, evocative, stunning and fanciful. Vintage glass of different shapes and size, color can compliment the old chromolithographs by attaching it. After adding scraps, the ornaments are mostly roped with tinsel and embossed gold papers. Then they are enclosed with crinkle wire for better effects.
Antique glass garland beads are also awesome for incorporating with tinsel ornaments and scrap that look homemade. Antique Christmas Ornaments can add an antique or classic touch to the d?r at the home. The antique ornaments can also be prepared at home by collecting information of the vintage collections. Being familiar with the antique ornaments market can suffice to the needs of the maker.
The ornament can be designed by reading the instructions in books, or searching for the site that provides knowledge on this. Select scraps and materials that look very old as they add to the glory and value. Once made, these ornaments can be stored for years and years and this is their specialty.

Beaded Christmas Ornaments
It is that time of the year again and you can virtually smell Christmas round the corner. There is that familiar sound of xmas carols again and are you starting to feel the xmas cheer from the people around you? It is around this time that we begin making plans for the holidays like where we're going to be spending them, and we're also doubtless starting to make our Christmas shopping lists. But one big and fun part of preparing for the xmas season is decorating our houses.
The Christmas tree is a vital part of the holiday and decorating them is something that is fun because we will be able to do it with our family. It may also be quite challenging to think of new motifs for the tree. Beaders would find their craft really helpful for this activity. You could be creating family heirlooms that you can pass from generation to generation.
There are two great patterns that you can create with the Christmas theme in mind. This one can be quite tricky to make but it is very beautiful. Poinsettias are wonderful and really reflect the meaning of the season. You can use yellow pony beads for the middle and red rochailles beads for the body of the flower. For your base, you may use a round clear piece of glass with a hole in the middle for the hanger. Tie a green or red ribbon from the hanger hole so you can put it up on your tree.
Another type of ornament that you can make is a tea ball ornament. You can use a mesh tea ball as your base. You can stitch the beads onto the tea ball in any color pattern that you want. Select a spread of colors or make a certain pattern such as a snowflake design. Candy canes are often a fun design to make. The basic stitch that you'll need to learn for this is the spiral rope chain.
What about beaded snow angel dolls? Pearl seed beads and crystal beads would be the perfect ones to use for these. They're very beautiful when finished and would be terribly eye-catching on your tree. You can even use them to top the tree with instead of the common star.
Beadwork will fit with just about any christmas tree ornament you can think about. The important thing is making sure that the design fits well with the kind of ornament you choose to create. But then again don't be afraid to experiment. After all , xmas is the perfect time to channel that inner childlike-wonder in every one of us.

Is There a More Winning Ncaa Coach Than Ucla's John Wooden? Well, Yes
Copyright © 2008 Ed Bagley
Any discussion of the NCAA's winningest coach naturally begins with UCLA's legendary basketball guru John Wooden. Wooden was far more than the best teacher of basketball to ever walk onto a court, he was also revered as an expert on teaching and winning in the game of life.
Known as the "Wizard of Westwood", Wooden won 665 games in 27 seasons at UCLA and 10 NCAA titles during this last 12 years, including 7 straight from 1967 to 1973. He also had an 88-game winning streak and two undefeated, back-to-back national championship teams.
Wooden's UCLA record during his 10 National Championship years was 291-10 (not a misprint); it rounds to a 97% winning percentage and includes no less than 4 perfect 30-0 seasons. In short, there is Wooden and everyone else when it comes to winning basketball games and national titles.
Without really thinking about it, I would say that no one could top Wooden as the winningest coach in NCAA history.
Then a brief notice buried deep inside the sports section of my daily newspaper reminded me of this guy from Arkansas named John McDonnell. I knew McDonnell had won a bunch of NCAA titles as coach of the Arkansas cross-country and track programs.
I had forgotten about McDonnell and Arkansas because running does not get much press in America. I did some research and was surprised to find out that McDonnell's Arkansas teams have:
1) Won 42 (yes, 42!) NCAA championships since 1984, 11 in cross-country, 19 in indoor track and 12 in outdoor track. Arkansas was so dominate in running that only 24 other NCAA titles in the three sports combined have been won by other schools in the last 24 years. McDonnell's 42 national championships are more than any other coach in any sport in the history of college athletics.
2) Won 5 national triple crowns (titles in cross-country, indoor track and outdoor track in the same year), including 3 straight triple crowns from 1991 to 1994.
3) Won at least one national championship in cross-country, indoor track or outdoor track in 21 of the past 22 years.
4) Won 20 SEC triple crowns since 1982, including 8 straight between 1987 and 1995. Imagine winning 24 straight SEC titles during an 8-year period. Won a total of 83 conference championships.
5) Won 12 consecutive NCAA indoor track championships from 1984 to 1995, the longest string of national titles by any school in any sport in collegiate history.
6) Won 33 consecutive league and 16 consecutive SEC cross-country championships from 1974 to 2006.
John McDonnell's track teams are known for their balanced scoring, and McDonnell credits recruiting as very important to his success. "Athletes won't just show up if they aren't contacted and recruited," he says.
McDonnell created an entire pedigree of champions in American running, coaching 179 track All-Americans, 54 individual national champions and 23 Olympians in 6 different Olympic games, including gold, silver and bronze medalists.
McDonnell will step down as Arkansas' coach after 35 seasons when the outdoor track season ends this year. The 69-year-old coach was born in Ireland and became a United States citizen after graduating in 1969 from Louisiana-Lafayette, where he was a 6-time All American scholarship athlete in cross-country and track.
