Home Fitness Without Spending A Dime!
We all want to get fit but not everyone can afford pricey gym memberships, personal trainers or expensive equipment. If you're lucky enough to already own a pool which basically gives you a personal swim spa, water treadmill or lap pool, you're one step ahead of the game. However, if you don't, you can still get fit at home if you use a little creative thinking. People rarely look around their own homes for options and are therefore missing an excellent opportunity. If it isn't easy and convenient, people tend to find excuses to blow off their workouts, but if everything is right at your finger tips in your own home, how much more convenient can you get than that? So rather than break the bank or give your credit card a work out, consider some easy home exercises that won't cost you a dime or eat up your busy schedule.
Weights- rather than buying barbells grab a can of soup or two. Canned goods come in multiple sizes so you can increase your weight as you progress. Once the largest can is no longer enough put several in a pillowcase tied in a loop at the top and do your reps with that!
Stretching- Don't underestimate the benefits of something as simple as stretching and door frames are perfect for this. You can use the outside of the frame to hang on to while you lean forward and stretch out arms and shoulders or stand sideways with your heels against the frame and hands on the opposite side to stretch out legs and hips.
Sit ups and crunches- Carpeted floors are the perfect amount of padding for sit ups and crunches. Padded, but not overly so. Avoid doing sit ups on very soft surfaces such as beds, as you are not getting a proper movement and could very likely cause an injury. Depending on its height- coffee tables are often the perfect foot prop for more challenging crunches.
Stairs- The perfect exercise for a great set of legs and backside and I can't think of any home without at least one stair in it, and one is all you need! Hands on hips and slow and steady reps stepping up and then down that first stair will whip your lower half into shape faster than you think possible.
Take a look around your home. Chances are you probably already have everything you need to get in shape!
